A Retreat

She walks down the path through the woods. The road was lined with laburnum and eucalyptus trees. A bend in the road hides her home from the view, the place which was her very own a few moments ago. Ever since she married, she had spent her entire life nurturing her new family and home. But now she was retreating. She had too. She wasn’t strong enough to forgive a betrayal. Trust, she had always felt, was the basis of any relation. And, when it broke, she felt no point in staying there. As she walked, she kept asking herself a question. Was she a loser?

At the corner of the road, she observed a tree being cut and comes to a halt. In few moments, the tree fell before her eyes. She felt the pain of the tree as her very own. The tree which had been providing shade to the others was being cut by its own people. They say, to retreat is to be a loser. But then the trees are losers too. However, there is a dignity in their fall. With this thought in her mind, she moved on.
